About the Role

1. Position Purpose

The Product Manager – Industrial Flooring will be responsible for driving the technical, product, application Support, site trouble shooting leading to commercial success of Sika India's Industrial Flooring portfolio.

The role will act as a critical interface between R&D, Quality, Marketing, and Target Market Team Manager and key Customers or consultants, with primary responsibility for product validation, technical documentation, application excellence, product development, technical training, competitive benchmarking and strategic project support.

The incumbent is expected to bring strong practical knowledge of industrial flooring systems, flooring application techniques, construction practices, failure analysis and flooring product chemistry, combined with the ability to translate technical knowledge into valied and satisfactory customer complaint resolutions.

The position requires a hands-on technical leader who can independently assess flooring systems at site and in Lab with R&D Team, identify application and product-related risks, develop solutions and support the business in establishing Flooring portfolio in India.

2. Core Responsibilities

A. Product Management

  • Own the technical lifecycle of assigned Industrial Flooring products and systems.
  • Develop product positioning and technical differentiation.
  • Conduct competitor and market benchmarking.
  • Provide inputs for product positioning and portfolio strategy.
  • Monitor product performance in the field and initiate corrective actions where required.

B. Technical & Application Excellence

  • Provide expert technical support for complex industrial flooring applications.
  • Must be able to evaluate and write application methodologies and system compatibility.
  • Support applicators during mock-ups, trials and critical applications.
  • Conduct technical audits and investigate flooring failures.
  • Develop root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action recommendations.

C. R&D & Innovation

  • Must work closely with R&D on product development, testing and field validation purposes.
  • Convert customer/market requirements into product development briefs.
  • Drive field trials and validation of new products.
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancement and cost optimisation in alignment with Target Market Manager - Flooring
  • Benchmark Sika flooring systems against competing technologies.

D. Sales & Business Support

  • Support Sales and BDM teams on strategic opportunities.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively across India as per business need
  • Participate in consultant/customer presentations
  • Provide technical inputs during specification development.
  • Support key project conversions through system recommendations and value propositions as and when needed
  • Develop technical tools that enable the Sales team to effectively communicate product/system benefits like method statements, value charts, Product BOQs, Product Specification documents, standard product presentations etc

E. Technical Communication & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain technical literature and product documentation.
  • Develop technical case studies and success stories of strategic products and new launches
  • Conduct technical training for Sales, applicators and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective dissemination of technical updates across the organization.

Key Competencies Required

Technical Competencies

The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of:

  • Basis flooring codes and test methods
  • Epoxy, Polyurethane, Polyurea and Polyaspartic flooring systems
  • PU Cement / Ucrete-type flooring systems
  • ESD / conductive flooring
  • Car park flooring systems
  • Underlayments and self-levelling systems
  • Concrete substrate preparation and technologies used for it.
  • Moisture management and substrate assessment
  • Mechanical grinding, shot blasting and scarification process 
  • Flooring application equipment and techniques
  • Flooring failure investigation and root-cause analysis

 

Your Skills and Experience

Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech./Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent
Experience: 

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in industrial flooring.
  • Strong hands-on experience in flooring application and installation.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial flooring products, systems and application methodologies.
  • Experience working with flooring applicators, contractors, consultants and industrial customers
  • Demonstrated experience in technical troubleshooting and flooring failure analysis.
  • Ability to understand product chemistry, technical data and performance characteristics.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across India.
